Pumpkin Patch
It is our favorite time of year again! It is a family tradition to go to the pumpkin patch in October. Today was a great day filled with hayrides, picking out and carving pumpkins. Here are a few of our favorite pictures.

Happy 7th Birthday Alex!
After weeks and weeks of Alex counting down to July 10 at 3 p.m. for his birthday party with a water slide, we had a repeat of last year. For the second year in a row, and probably because we were banking on the usual hot summer weather, rain threatened Alex’s outdoor party.
With a week of record rainfall (as of July 10, this year had already passed the monthly average), Mom and Dad were nervously watching the forecast. As early as the morning of the party, each of them said that the worst would happen right during the party. So, we made the executive decision at 10 a.m. to move up to 11 a.m. when it was cloudy and humid but not rainy. We have some incredible friends that reacted on short notice.
Fortunately, the time change only meant a couple of no shows. (We are sorry that Kathryn and Colin missed out though.) Instead of 25 kids, we still had about 22 kids enjoying a very wet day on the waterslide with only breaks to eat pizza and Mario cake, which was awesomely created by Carla again.
Thanks to everyone and their kids who came, slid and splashed for a couple hours to celebrate our little boy’s 7th birthday. Happy birthday, Alex, from Mom, Dad and Sydney. We love you and next year, you can give us a birthday present by having your party indoors and reducing our stress level.

Happy 4th Birthday Sydney!!
June 3 has come and gone, so our little Sydney is officially 4 years old. Once again, she wanted to have her birthday party at the Treehouse (at Glenview Baptist Church), so of course, we obliged. Going there for the second year in a row meant we knew exactly what to expect and it was a great (and exhausting) day. The proof in how much Sydney has grown over the last 12 months is obvious by how much easily she was able to scale, climb and conquer all the steps and slides in the treehouse all by herself. With a couple dozen kids running around crazy, along with a few parents (Daron and myself included), Sydney did very well with her party selection. This year, Carla outdid herself with the Tinkerbell cake, which not only looked awesome but was delicious. It is hard to see our little girl get another year older but more than likely, she will keep that sweet and silly demeanor each year too. Mommy and Daddy love you, Syd.

Kindergarten Graduation
I can't believe that kindergarten flew by so quickly! Knowing that we are one day away from having a 1st grader makes me feel so old! Alex has had a wonderful first year of school. He has learned so much and amazes me with his reading ability. At the end of the year, he tested at the middle of 2nd grade level! As much as he loved school, I think we are all ready to have some relaxing time at home over the summer.

Sea World Trip
Over Memorial Weekend, we took the kids to San Antonio to celebrate Sydney's birthday. On Friday, we went to the Riverwalk and took the boat tour, Saturday we spent the day at Sea World, and Sunday we went to Fiesta Texas. It was LOTS of fun but VERY hot! Next time remind me to plan that trip in the Fall!

Disney on Ice
What a busy weekend we just had! We had tickets for Disney on Ice on Friday evening, followed by Easter gatherings on Saturday and Sunday. It was a lot of fun, but I always hate how the weekends seem to fly by.
All of us enjoyed the Disney on Ice performance more this year than last. Sydney was cracking us up by waving throughout the entire show at every character who came out. She was beyond thrilled that this show included all the princesses. A little note for Disney though, how can you put in every princess except Sleeping Beauty?!? That is Sydney's favorite because she wears pink, and Sydney loves all things pink, so a princess dress should be no different! She was thrilled to see them "dancing" and is still talking about it! Luckily for us, the seat next to us was empty, so Sydney used that area as her own personal dance space and tried to imitate what the characters were doing on the ice! It was priceless and she looked just precious! Alex was beyond thrilled to see the Toy Story characters. His face just lit up when Buzz and Woody came out. He has been working so hard at school, so it was nice to see him relax and enjoy just being a kid.

Spring Break
Although fall will always be my favorite time of year, I really enjoy spring weather also! The problem with Spring is that it is followed by Summer, which if you know me at all, you know that I just can not stand the heat that we have in Texas during the Summer.
So, this was Alex's first "official" spring break. It's amazing how much this week has made me realize I miss him being home all the time. He is loving kindergarten though and is doing awesome, so I have accepted that my baby is no longer that at all, but is growing into a very smart, caring, and responsible little man. I couldn't be more proud of him.
I had all these big visions of things we were going to do over Spring Break, but life has a way of changing plans for you at times. You see, on the Friday before Spring Break, I get a call from the school nurse that Alex had come down and said he wasn't feeling well. She assures me that he is fine and is going to send him back to class. Well, mommy's intution kicks in and I know that Alex is not the type that goes to the school nurse all the time, in fact, I don't think he has been at all before that Friday. So, I decide to go up there, just to check on him. I talk to the nurse and his teacher and they both assure me that he is fine, nothing to worry about. As I am leaving, I see him in the gym and he immediately starts crying. He runs up to me and tells me he is so glad that I am there because he feels so bad, so I decide to take him home. We head back to the classroom to get his backpack and before we can even leave the school, he vomits everywhere! I am so glad I went up there because he would have gotten sick at the assembly in front of the entire school. We thought we were fortunate because the stomach bug was short lived and he seemed okay by the next day....whew! Then, three days later, Sydney gets the same symptoms! Short lived again, so we think that we are in the clear until three days later...you guessed it, I get the same symptoms. So, if we are following this schedule, it looks as though Daron will get it on Sunday night. Let's all hope for the best and pray that the entire can of Lysol I have used on the house will get it out of here once and for all!!
Despite the sickness, we were able to squeeze in a few fun activities for the kids. On Monday, Alex went to a friend's house and then we met them at the park and played for awhile. Then, on Wednesday, we met up with my sister and her kids to head to the Dallas Arboretum. I took all the kids on the TRE (train from Fort Worth to Dallas), and my sister drove and picked us all up when we arrived. Alex LOVED the train...he is still talking about how he got to ride a REAL train all the way to Dallas. I have to admit, it was a very cool experience and a great way to let your kids experience that for the first time. When we made it to the Arboretum, we walked around and were able to get in a few good pictures. Then, we had a picnic and let the kids run around and enjoy the wonderful weather. We topped the day off with snowcones and I got a nap out of 1 of the 2 kids that day...a small victory for Momma!
Then, on Thursday, we decided to head to the zoo. Apparantely, everyone else who lives in Tarrant County had the same plan. It was so busy and people were walking from University to get in when we were leaving. Luckily, we got there before opening and they were already letting people in for crowd control. So, we did get a little jump on the crowds and luckily we are zoo members so if an exhibit was too busy, we could skip it because we can come back at any time. The kids had a great time and were excited that we got to ride the train 2 times! Normally, we take it from the back of the zoo to the front, but I caved in and let them have a stroller this time so we had to return it before we could make the train ride, which resulted in the extra trip on the train. Even though it is not something I would normally do, it was the best $8 I have ever spent because it was so nice to have them contained in one area with all the people. After a few hours at the zoo, we left and met Daddy for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we ate on the patio. Overall, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break! Snow Day Fun
We had an amazing time yesterday and today playing in the snow. Here are some more pictures of our adventures.
And the neighborhood's 8 foot snowman....
And these are from today. We decided to walk down to the park and play with some friends and then we tried our luck at sledding. It turned out to be a LOAD of fun!!!
Perhaps the funniest moment of the day is when I tried to push two kids sleds at the same time. My efforts took a wrong turn somewhere and I ended up tumbling down the hill myself!
But, in the end all was okay and we all survived!
